Don’t let Florida’s scorching sun and humidity put a damper on your once-in-a-lifetime vacation. We have plenty of ways for you to keep cool! Check out this guide to beating the heat for your summer wish trip:
1. Get Wet
The obvious answer to Florida’s heat: water rides! Walt Disney World Resort, SeaWorld Orlando, and Universal Orlando Resort all have exciting attractions that will be sure to cool you off. And, when you spend a day at the Village, be sure to enjoy the Park of Dreams pool and splash garden.
2. Pack for the weather
Light, quick-dry summer wear will keep you comfortable when it’s 90 degrees and humid. Also, afternoon rain showers happen almost every day in the summer, so don’t forget to carry along a rain jacket. For more tips on packing check out this video.
3. Shop our Memory Market
The Village’s Memory Market is full of apparel and accessories to keep you cool. Cold packs, baseball hats, water bottles, sunglasses and more are all available to purchase – and the money you spend goes directly to making magic for more wish kids.
4. Enjoy a cool snack
Nothing beats a frozen treat on a hot summer day. Ice cream is served morning, noon, and night at Henri’s Starlite Scoops. And, if you’re at the pool you can grab some at Noah’s Nook!
5. Use Sunscreen
While this won’t necessarily cool you down, it will definitely save you a painful sunburn. Don’t forget to reapply often!
6. Indoor attractions
At the peak of the afternoon heat, schedule some time to enjoy indoor attractions at the theme parks. Settle in and watch a show, or, if you’re spending the day at the Village, pop inside the Castle of Miracles to make a pillow, find your wish child’s star, or play in the Jolly Hollow.
7. Stay hydrated
Having plenty of cold water at your fingertips is crucial in the heat. Throughout the theme parks, you can get free cups of water from quick service stands and water is available at Noah’s Nook, Café Clayton and water fountains around the Village.
8. Pace yourself
Most importantly, make sure to go at your own pace. You’ll have a week full of fun and each day at the parks includes a lot of walking. So, go slow, take breaks and enjoy quality time together as a family.
