On Thursday night, the children and families at Give Kids The World Village enjoyed a surprise visit from former WWE wrestler and “Guardians of the Galaxy” star Dave Bautista. Bautista, who plays “Drax,” took pictures, talked with the children and families, and passed out toys – including Drax action figures from Marvel’s newest film “Avengers: Infinity War.”
Harrison, a 14-year-old wish kid from Suffolk, United Kingdom, had always wanted to meet an American wrestler. He was thrilled when he realized his wish trip overlapped with Bautista’s visit.
“I was checking them in at the front desk when they noticed cameras flashing,” said Shaun, our Guest Services Director. “Harrison’s mom asked if it was a celebrity and when I told them who it was, Harrison’s face lit up. They had no idea he was going to be here.”
After taking pictures with some of the wish families in the House of Hearts, Bautista spent some time talking and hanging out with Harrison.
Bautista was visiting on behalf of “Marvel: The Universe Unites,” an epic charity campaign that unites the cast of the new movie to raise funds and awareness for children’s charities.
Through the campaign, Marvel teamed up with Hasbro to donate a total of $1 million in cash and toys to the Village!
We are thrilled to have such generous partners and are so thankful for this super gift to the children and families we serve.
