Meet These Give Kids The World Spring Breakers

Each spring, thousands of college students visit from around the country, using their time and talents to serve families at Give Kids The World. While spring breaks may be coming to an end for most, we’re still soaking up the memories made by our awesome 2019 Alternative Spring Breakers!

Now, hear from these big-hearted college students, who shared their favorite parts of spending spring break at Give Kids The World:

“I was a wish child from Michigan, who visited Give Kids The World in 2003. I remember when I was at the Village, the volunteers made everything worth it and left a lifelong impact on me. I want to help these families forget about everything else except the fun that they are having that week.” – Daryl, adviser for the Oakland University volunteer group

“Being able to give children ice cream in the morning put huge smiles on their faces – even the parents and siblings join in too! I love to see the creativity that people come up with for milkshake recipes. The children’s eyes get so excited when whipped cream is piled on top and you throw in an extra cherry.” – Danielle, co-leader for the University of South Florida

“This year I worked a shift carrying trays for families in Café Clayton. It was so great to ask kids and parents what they loved best about the Village or what their favorite part of the day was as we walked to their tables. It’s just one way the Village helps families open up, relax, and spend some quality time with each other.” – Hannah Chase, State University of New York at Geneseo

“I think that my favorite part of the entire volunteer experience is something actually quite simple: the ability to make these incredible kids laugh. When they start laughing the reaction of their entire family is amazing. Children deserve to have a smile on their face … especially at Give Kids the World Village.” – Navin, senior at St. John’s University
