For 20 years, Zamperla, an Italian-based ride design and manufacturing company, has helped fill the Village with fun attractions by donating JJ’s Express and Lori’s Magical Flight. Now they’re adding another: an exciting nine-person swinging ride!
This custom-built attraction was designed to be wheelchair accessible, with 8 standard seats and one wheelchair-accessible space for chairs to be rolled on and secured. This swing is sure to be an exhilarating attraction among wish children and their families.
“I received many letters from the parents and children who ride the rides at the Village,” said Zamperla President, Alberto Zamperla. “They write ‘Thanks to you and your ride, it’s possible for my child to ride a ride for the first time in their life and they were so happy.’ When you can make a child happy, it’s the best thing you can do – so I knew I had to make another ride for Give Kids The World.”
Our wheelchair accessibility is part of what gives our wish families a one-of-a-kind experience, but it wouldn’t be possible without help from our valued partners like Zamperla. Lori’s Magical Flight, JJ’s Express and our new swing attraction give children of all abilities the chance to ride alongside their parents and siblings – sometimes for the first time in their lives.
Zamperla unveiled the swing on Tuesday at the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA) International Attractions Expo, where it was on display and available for attendees to experience. The first riders were Village president and CEO Pamela Landwirth and Alberto Zamperla, of course!
“We’re so proud of this wonderful partnership we’ve had with Zamperla for so many years,” said Pamela. “They’ve been so generous with their many donations and we can’t begin to thank them enough for another amazing attraction.”
The swing will be transported to the Village directly from the Expo – so stay tuned for exciting updates swinging your way, including a name fit for this bright and hope-filled attraction!
