From Heartbreak to Hope

Wish dad Ed Kimpel shares his family’s story…

Life had been fairly tame for our small family until the fall of 2015. Everything seemed ideal. I was teaching in the local middle/high schools, we had three little boys, and had just completed building a new home in Clifton, Idaho. (click for more)

A Grandfather’s Gift

There’s a little house in Pennsylvania, tucked away in a backyard, where the fairytales and magic of Give Kids The World Village live. This blue playhouse with yellow trim and a purple roof holds more within its walls than two little girls dreaming of star fairies and six-foot-tall bunny rabbits; it’s a place where love, hope and family are held close. Brayden’s Express Graduates from High School

Our hearts swelled when we learned Dylan carried Brayden with him on their graduation day, tucked inside his cap. Wish families stay at the Village for one week, but they become our family forever. (click for more)

Behind the Name: Bethany’s Garden

Tucked away in Miss Pitty Pat’s Garden of Hope is a special place called Bethany’s Garden, named after a special little girl, wish kid Bethany. It’s a place where our very own Mayor Clayton and Ms. Merry call home. Bethany’s wish trip was in April of 2004 and according to her grandparents Kerry and Diane Slaven who are lovingly known around the Village as Mama Bear & Papa Bear, Bethany loved Give Kids The World more than any of the amusement parks. While she enjoyed all the Village activities, she always gravitated to her favorite place, Mayor Clayton and Ms. Merry’s house. (click for more)

Everyone who knows me knows that if I could pick the vacation destination each summer, I would pick Walt Disney World without hesitation. However, while on my wish trip in 2016, I discovered my second favorite place, and it’s not a theme park! (click for more)
